A BLUES SONG

I woke up this morning without you
For the forty third day in a row
I guess it's time to acknowledge
That I have to let you go
When you told me you loved me
What did that mean to you?
Did you ever believe it?
Was it ever true?
I'm just so terribly sorry
That hurting me made you feel bad
And caused you to feel the anger
That's destroyed all that we had
Where is the love that we once felt
Did it really just go away?
Should I have done or said something
To try to convince you to stay
I'm just so terribly sorry
That hurting me made you feel bad
And caused you to feel the anger
That's destroyed all that we had
Some blows are worse than others
And this one will leave behind scars
But the tumors are gone from my psyche
Placed on a shelf in glass jars
I'm just so terribly sorry
That hurting me made you feel bad
And caused you to feel the anger
That's destroyed all that we had
I woke up this morning without you
For the forty third day in a row
I guess it's time to acknowledge
That I have to let you go
