THE DEATH OF GRACE
One day we will reminisce
Describing what we were doing
When we learned about
The death of Grace

Virtue couldn't save her
Muddled visions of morality
Sapping the fortitude
Needed to make a difference

She will be missed
Attention devoted to mourning
That might have been sufficient
To avoid her death

Looking backward
Is seems so easy to see
An environment so toxic
Grace had to die

There was no hail of bullets
Her demise was hard to pronounce
Dying in little pieces
Until one day she was gone

Focused on our needs
Losing our connections
We forgot that to live
Grace needed us to care

We can honor her memory
Behave as she would have us do
And for those fleeting moments
We will have Grace again
