Home     Elizabeth Bishop     Edna St. Vincent Millay     Miscellaneous Works

Alan Dubow was born in New York city and attended Vassar during its "transition years" as it moved from its tradition as a women's college to coeducation.

Alan has garnered most of his writing credentials in the mental health and long term care fields, explaining the complex health care system so that it is readily understood by consumers and care providers alike. He has designed healthcare informational programs used by both healthcare providers as outreach and marketing tools, and for non-profit organizations for major national initiatives, including the AARP campaign on the Medicare prescription drug program. Dr. Dubow holds a bachelors degree from Vassar College and Masters and Doctoral degrees from the University of Miami and has lectured at Catholic University, Briarcliffe College, The Learning Annex, Howard University, Loyola Academy and other institutions.

With extensive public policy experience, Alan has served as Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs for Working Parents of America and the Disability Coalition of a major political party; Deputy Political Director for a U.S. Senator; Advance Press Liaison for White House; Legislative Director for a state political party; and lobbyist for several municipal governments.

His poetry, noted for its staccato style and deep emotional evocation is primarily seen online. The samples here. focus on his two most heavily explored topics - romance and mental health.
