SUMMER SNOW
As the white sand
Of the beach at night
Melts into the fog
Along the bay
The monochromatic background
Has the feel of summer snow

In the shining darkness
I reach out for your hand
But I can't tell if you're near me
Or discern the sea from sand
I feel my lips whisper you name
As the silence hurts my ears

The haze piles in drifts around me
Flailing as I try to breathe
The accumulation pins my arms and legs
As I long to move ahead
To the place you hold in my life
Buried deep in summer snow

I can hear the ocean laughing
Mocking me to impress the breeze
I've become an easy target
Damp and weeping on my knees
I can make it if you'll let me know
That you'll help me clear the summer snow
