HERE WITHOUT YOU
The moon is talking to me
In a quizzical
Scolding voice
Wondering why
I'm here without you

Fiddling in the sand
The crabs pinch as they skitter by
Making their point
"Wake up!"
This is no place to be alone

There is a dance to be done
Light shimmering on the water
Water lapping the sand
Yet here without a partner
I can not perform my piece

Dreams arc the skyline
Reflecting on the water
Where their beauty derives
From the fact that they can be seen
By both our eyes together

Moments flow in endless succession
No more alike than snowflakes
So while there will be others
This one that we should have together
Is wasted on the moon and I alone
