EYES OF A GHOST

The world can be a daunting place

To try and bare your soul

There's so much to be wary of

But what scares me the most

Is when I gaze into your face

I see the eyes of a ghost

If you carry around some pain

That's not unique to you

But still there are some things you do

That sometimes make me doubt

Whether you're really here with me

Or if you've just checked out

Your lips can claim to be engaged

And hips say you're alive

But still I find at passion's peak

That what I want the most

Is to dive into your eyes

And chase away the ghost

I wasn't there to see you hurt

And can not feel your angst

But I can craft a soothing balm

If you'll just tell me how

To lure you in the time machine

That goes to here and now
